Cancelled my metropass. Excellent service for ~3 years. But 2 months of sub-par or no service at all will affect your ridership.

Chronic underuse was a know detriment when doing this. The value is in having it at all, whatever level of use it gets. It's still positive to have another mmode of transport for people in the dense metro core.

Yes this is unfortunate, and Amtrak has big delays also, it's the better economy with more freight and now the oil trains, I'm not sure what the answer is, I would love to see this line go all the way to St. Cloud--one of these days I hope!

Unless and until there is some type of agreement amongst the parties, Metro Transit and Amtrak trying to use BNSF right-of-way is going to be a challenge.

Thanks Big Government for this valuable solution to our transit problems. Now on with the next billion dollar rail project. It's the way of the future. It's the best use of our tax dollars.

Could see this coming yesterday while driving Highway 10 and seeing BNSF trains backed up all the way from St. Paul to Hastings. Wonder if BNSF would give NorthStar all - or even most - of its money back if NorthStar would go away and thereby free up track capacity for more valuable freights? And the money so freed up could go where it always belonged - into a dedicated, more practical and more reliable bus-way from, say, Elk River all the way into downtown.

This was always going to be the problem with Northstar. Going the cheap and easy way of using BNSF tracks without paying for any upgrades has come back to haunt Met Transit. I don't know why these transportation "Planners" can't look into the future and see these kinds of problems. If we are going to fix this, Met Council needs to pony up the cash with BNSF to get this fixed. Otherwise we will be stuck with a train that can't keep a schedule and what good is that.
