Fort Myers, Fla. – The Olympic motto is “Faster, higher, stronger.” At Twins spring training camp, there is no sign of the five-ring symbol, but there are five practice fields filled with players displaying baseball’s venerated five tools.

I'm glad we now have athletes. Wouldn't it be nice if we had real coaches, and a front office that had the gumption and fortitude to look for the best players possible... maybe owners who cared about baseball and winning would be nice as well. While we're at it Souhan... how about media that holds the team accountable, and a general fan base that did the same? I see such a glaring lack of accountability you'd think you were all in Washington DC working for the Government!

I just hate it when the media or somebody else starts comparing players, who have yet to hit a major league pitch, to players like Cabrera or Trout. Spring Training always seems to bring out the dreamers.

Of course sports writers make player comparisons when writing a piece about athletes. Stupid commentary.

Would have been a fine article for 2015 when the kids arrive.

Has it really taken the twins front office to realize that a pitcher that throws 90mph and pitches to contact isn't the best way?? I am glad to see that they may have figured it out.

What took so long? You should have seen Mauer as a high school QB throwing the football all over the field. Same thing in basketball, a Mauer low-post move, breaking the press, drilling a 3-pointer or dunk. The organization finally went out and found some bigger, faster, stronger athletes? Now they need to follow the Cardinals blueprint for continued drafting and subsequently developing young talent.

....And what happens when this group of tall atheletes loses 90 games this season? If you can't develop players, shopping for them at the Goodwill is not gonna work.....

Mr Souhan writes like he's employed by the Twins working in their public relations department.

Who is the last player developed still on the Twins team? Mauer is all I can think of. How many of the players developed after they left.
