As acting Twins general manager during Terry Ryan’s absence while being treated for cancer, Rob Antony said he believes the big thing the team is looking for this spring is which position players are going to step up.

I understand their desire for fan patience. What I don't understand is why they don't cut ticket prices until they can field a team that has a chance to win, say, at leat 82 ballgames. Price should bear some relationship to product quality. Only the Cubs can swim against the current in this river.

Hey, no problem...I'll patiently wait for the Twins to field a competitive team before I go back to Target Field Not a problem at all.

How about you guys signing Cruz if you want patience? Or keep talented players who are fan favorites like Torii Hunter and Michael Cuddyer? How about talent and medical evaluators correctly treating injuries and deciding to hang on to people like SS Hardy instead of trading him for two guys not MLB caliber? Or pull the trigger on the Santana trade before teams pull their legit offer off the table? I was there in mid-late 60's, the mostly dry 70-80's, the World Series in 1987 and 1991 as well as the fallout in the 90's. I follow this team daily on TV and attend anywhere from 2-10 games a year and have gone to Fenway, Wrigley, Kaufmann and Anaheim to watch the Twins. Out of excuses. Once Sano, Buxton and others start producing you had better sign them to long-term deals because you got the stadium and your own radio network. Quit asking for patience. Your not Calvin. Patience is wearing thin when you build your season forecast on hope.

WOW. Three great posts. Love it 'cause these three are right on the nose in responding to more twinkie rhetoric. I especially agree with dreadnought and have posted several times in the past that as long as the twinks put out a sub standard product, they should offer it at a discount. And I do not mean the pointless Thursday get away day game Senior 10% discount. When your team is in the throws of 90+ loss seasons for three years in a row, lets talk about half price nights. Half off tickets and half off food and drinks.

Patience after three horrible seasons??? Hell no!!! WIN!!! And win NOW!!!!

Anthony is already telling us that the team will be weak--but we should have patience and pay full price to watch AAA ball. If they are going to miss Doumot why did they get rid of him only to sign Suzuki for the same $. What's the point. Time for the management to show us first, then we will decide.

“We tried to do some things that didn’t work out." What an accurate statement about this organization. They sign one decent pitcher and two of the worst in baseball last year then come out and say they are not done and will do what it takes to improve the club. Well they have done nothing and fielded another awful team. This team is a disgrace and has been for the last few years. Nelson Cruz, Matt Garza and Stephan Drew and we would have a legitimate major league team. We can afford them with our current payroll so why did we not sign them because the ownership would rather field a team with no chance of being a winner than spend some money. The emphasis of this organization is on profits not producing a good baseball team how can anyone deny that when you look at their profits and then the teams won and loss record. I used to love the Twins but i can not watch as this ownership humiliates this once proud franchise.

This dreadful team combines bad with boring. I don't need patience, because I no longer care one whit about them. They have proven they aren't really serious about competing.

knight63Feb. 24, 1410:17 AM

Mr. Antony: You are asking fans for MORE patience, after three 90+loss horrible seasons? Wow.

fourthstreetFeb. 24, 14 6:22 PM

I did not attend a game last season and will continue to avoid TF until the Twins are serious about fielding a competitive team. I also refuse to attend a team managed by an incompetent buffoon and a GM who is being a large bonus each season depending upon the profits of the team only.
