What do these guys see in Ponder?

Spielman, stop hurting the team and alienating the fans. Admit you made a huge mistake drafting Ponder, put it behind you and move on. You are being judged by all the draft choices you make not only by QB selections. You draft well and you will receive accolades. You draft poorly you will receive criticism. That, my friend, is why you make the big bucks. If can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Good, bad or indifferent Ponder is the only QB on the roster. You expect the Vikings brass to what, cut him in February? Say he's horrible and will never start again? Not too smart are you. Just because Ponder is on the roster now doesn't mean he'll be the starter in September. It means he's on the roster. That's it. There is free agency in March and the draft in May. Go shovel some snow.

if manziel falls to pick 8 take him.otherwise my next choice is khalil mack the stud linebacker slash DE.if there both gone i would trade back to accumulate picks.if johnnys size and off the field antics bother some folks he could fall in our lap.

Zimmer said, “Yeah, if he was the best player.” Zimmer said, “Yeah, IF he WAS the best player.” Pretty funny. We all know how that will work out. Game film will tell them MUCH about Ponder's ability (inability), on the field. Apparently, CP has been able to prolong the inevitable by being able to complete passes IN PRACTICE! Game Day tells the TRUE story. The guy DOESN'T have - IT! GO VIKINGS!!!

I blame most of the Vikings offensive woes on the OC and the game plan, not on any individual players on offense. I would just like to see what Ponder can do with Turner. No, he's not one of the top quarterbacks in the league, but I don't think they should stretch for a QB in the draft again.

May as well keep Ponder. There are no cap savings in cutting him, nobody would trade a leaky water bucket for him, and we don't have any other QB on the roster. Pick up a stop gap veteran like Cassell, keep Ponder for now, and look for a young QB in the draft. This team has gaping holes all over the place. It will take two very productive years to rebuild. Explore every avenue to find a QB in those two years and please let Turner do the evaluating not Spielaman. The mistake to avoid is reaching at No. 8 and repeating the Ponder debacle, while leaving massive holes elsewhere on the roster. Can Spielman find a QB in two years while adding about 12 good players in the draft and free agency? I doubt it, but that is the task facing him due to his prior poor decisions. My over under in the win column while we have Spielman will always be six. That was a good bet in 2010, 2011, and 2013. I think it is a good bet going forward.

Several posters have made good points. The Vikes should not reach for a QB with the #8 pick! That is what they did when they picked Ponder remember. In this years draft there are no Andrew Luck type QB's. None are sure things and have lots of questions to answer. I have no problem taking one in rounds two or three. This team has to many holes it has to fill on defense too waste picks!!! You all seen what a good defense did to Manning in the superbowl. Good defense beats good offense period!!! Other teams find good QB's in later rounds so why can't we?

Who'd want to coach this team anyway-all you have is an aging, over the hill running back whos afraid to run in the cold, no NFL caliber QB on the roster and no potenital QBs in the upcoming draft (should have drafted Foles as they had 3 chances) and a defense which is as porous as they come.
