Movie crew in fatal Georgia train crash was on tracks without permission, investigator says

JESUP, Ga. — A movie crew was working on train tracks without permission from the railroad when a freight train crashed into the production team and its equipment, killing one and injuring seven others, a sheriff's investigator said Friday.

What folks don't realize is the horror of the engineer. Anything he can see on the track, he knows the train will hit because trains can take a mile to stop. Engineers are told, during their career, they will most likely kill someone. Many have way-too-close calls nearly every day.

Actually, the engineer will never kill anyone unless speed or inattentiveness cause the accident. There is nothing they can do to stop something with that much mass and inertia in a short distance.
