It's the Greedy law breakers like these people, scoffing our laws that protect our State’s Natural Resources that are causing major problems at our big lakes like Mille Lacs, Red Lake and Lake of the Woods. How bout announcing some names and some real punishment meted out this time for these criminals.

verdepato, how to gift a duck or goose is no big secret. This is clearly spelled out in the waterfowl synopsis each year.

adctel - I spent quite a few minutes looking in the synopsis (MINNESOTA Hunting Regulations - WATERFOWL 2013) located online at http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/rlp/regulations/hunting/2013/waterfowl.pdf and was unable to find mention of gifting ducks or geese. Maybe I missed it. Please clarify where the information is so easily found in the synopsis.

MN hunting and fishing regulation books are overbearing manuals, in comparision, North Dakota regulations are in a simple pamphlet. Don't have to leave a one inch patch of skin on fish. No LIMIT in your HOME freezer. Easily buy license online etc. Typical MN gov over reach. Also, hunting and fishing is better in ND.

And the DNR wonders why north and south Dakota sees record number of hunters and fishermen coming to their states.

The small game and waterfowl regs do not need to be 100 pages long. DNR could easily simplify and stop worrying about early season teal hunts and preserving trapping laws that allow body gripping traps on public land.

IF you give someone a bird, you have to tag it with your name and address so it can be counted against you (page 30-something). If you give your grandparents a bag of fish filets, they must have an angling license (even thought they haven't gone fishing in years)to have them in their possesion. If they are not licensed, you AND they could be in DNR legal trouble. Either by license sales or fines, the state is making a lot of $$$$ with these laws.

pwe861 - the regulation books are easy to understand. They are broken down into chapters, such as limits, when to fish/hunt, safety, special regulations, are it is quite easy to get to the section on limits. These people getting caught KNOW they are over the limit and I have no sympathy for them. Guides should get felony charges. One more thing - I notice everyone is going to ND to catch fish.

Skip: Actually, the better fishing is in ND. There are far fewer lakes, but the fish population is much better than MN lakes. Loyal Minnesotans will feel obligated to disagree, but facts are facts.
