Reusse: Like Tubby, frustration appears to have defeated Wolves' Adelman

Tubby Smith and Rick Adelman brought a much-needed attribute to a pair of basketball operations when they arrived as coaches in Minneapolis: credibility.

The only way you should trade away a first round pick is to get something spectacular in return. The only way you should trade away a first round pick is if you expect it to be a late first rounder. To trade a #1 and a #4 for cap space is unfathomable. Whoever authorized that transaction should be tarred and feathered. Kaaaaaaaahn! The first round pick is all Wolves fans have to look forward to. We had 2 last year, and Adelman has even managed to take them away from us by not playing them. They've had 9 first round picks since 2009, and they only have Ricky Rubio and 2 bench players who don't play to show for it. We're winning more often, but it still feels like we're going nowhere. Oh well, just wait'll next year, errr, two years from now.

Unfortunately for the fans in Minnesota, this franchise is the poster child for lousy luck and even worse management. Snake bit is an understatement. I don't see any dramatic improvement on the horizon.

Very well said, Patrick. What's next for the Wolves? With nothing to trade except their best player, it seems that we'll wallow through some middling years if Love stays [doubtful] and return to our customary bottom-feeder position if Love leaves. And it seems that Adelman and Kahn have turned the Wolves into a pariah in terms of free agents. It will require an official miracle for the Wolves to be playoff-capable in the next three to four years.

The nba is rigged. Don't believe me? Why is the draft lottery behind closed doors?

If Phoenix does not get our first round pick in 2014 or 2015 (BOTH years are protected!) THEN it becomes two second round draft choices in the following years. How comes nobody seems to know this including Flip Saunders???

I hope Adelman walks. He is a terrible coach and his rotations are bad. Why doesn't he play the rookies the wolves drafted? If Adelman doesn't walk I would be happy if the Wolves fired him. Also, why did they get rid of Derrick Williams for nothing? That was incredibly stupid. Adelman will never win a championship (obviously).

This Wolves is like the Denver Broncos last year. Absolutely prolific offense most of the time and a mediocre-to-bad defense. When the game's on the line in the 4th quarter when the pressure is the greatest, they fail more often than their prolific numbers would indicate they should.

The Wolves are indeed frustrating. Win a game, lose a game. Blow out a pretty good team, then get blown out by a not so good team. They trade victories and losses all season long and never get into the flow of a consistent winning streak. I guess this defines mediocrity.

Funny how the so called basketball experts at the T-Wolves mess up every draft because they get too cute. After spending $100,000s of dollars on scouting each year they still cant get it right. Flip has had two franchise players (KG & Love) that most organizations could have built winning playoff teams with. Tough to support the organization.

@northstars91, Sure we all know it's top 13 protected this year. But right now the Wolves are only the 16th worst team, and would lose the pick. Any kind of winning streak will pretty much guarantee we will lose the pick. We will be good enough to lose the pick, and bad enough to miss the playoffs.
