Best case scenario: Sign him to a cheap minor league deal, and if he does OK trade him for a prospect.

The issue with a player like Santana is a team has no clue whether, or not he actually will still be MLB capable in May or June, and yet they'd be committing money to him.

Why not offer Johan a boat load of incentives. This team can afford it; I mean, we're still at a payroll under $85MM? That's ridiculous in this day and age. As for Santana...while he may not be the Johan of old, he'll still have more wins playing half a season than any stiff in the current starting rotation playing a full season. Give him all the incentives he wants. If he reaches them, then perhaps this team can win 73 games or more for a change. This organization is sooooooo broken right now. What happened, man?
