I really hope the government breaks up the oligopoly know as the cable industry. Same with cell phone service providers. All of them seem to have come to an agreement to gauge customers because they know people have very few choices when it comes to buying cable or cell phone service. Other places around the world can get ten times the speed for a quarter of the price.

The FCC should, as a condition of this merger, force them to unbundle their channels. I would like to see a "pay for what you watch" system. Each channel has a price per hour cost...at the end of the month you pay for what you watch, not those 450 shopping channels.

It has always been cheaper to take the limited basic cable and internet than just the internet but Comcast has slowly eliminated the savings. I did the math and it was about the same considering they are now charging for the box, HD channels etc. So I dropped the TV portion for Satellite. I just wish DSL was better in my area so I could get rid of Comcast completely.
