CAMBRIDGE, Md. — President Barack Obama said Friday that top priorities for Congress should be increasing the minimum wage and overhauling the immigration system, while acknowledging that election year politics could complicate the effort.

I would think that Obama's "top" agenda should be to fix his signature legislation that has been a complete disaster and was rammed through by him and his cronies through lies and false claims. Immigration and minimum wage? Those are issues that should be addressed by a community activist NOT the President of the United States.

Putting forth policies to get current Americans back to work in this over taxed/regulated moribund economy would be, oh I don't know, maybe light years ahead of worring about people who aren't even citizens yet just so you can sew up more votes for your party.

I wonder if his agenda will ever come close to the American agenda? I'd be surprised since his standards have no relationship to America's standards.

I encourage all of you reading this to ask your co-workers to name the top five issues they would like to see Obama address. Unless your co-workers are employed at a fast food restaurant I would bet these two issues don't make the list.

"Unless your co-workers are employed at a fast food restaurant" -- just a guess... but I'm assuming anyone making minimum wage isn't surfing this website in the middle of the workday. At least in the real world... not sure about the imaginary one presented by Faux Nooz

Immigration and the minimum wage? Does this mean Summer of Recovery is cancelled for this year?

"'And look, everybody here is an elected official and we can all appreciate the maneuverings that take place, particularly in an election year,'" Obama said. Mr. Obama, the only people that "appreciate" political maneuverings are the politicians -- everyone else, in fact, abhors them.

Since focusing on job creation "like a laser beam" (his words) didn't work out, I guess Dear Leader telling congress to focus on increasing the minimum wage makes more sense in an election year, since more Americans are having to settle for minimum wage jobs. Maybe Congress should focus on improving the Dollar Menu at McDonald's so everyone will benefit from the good work done in Washington.

Just a few days ago he said he was focusing on jobs. I guess jobs aren't a top priority. So 25% teen unemployment, 50% black youth unemployment, 6.6% unemployment, the lowest labor participation rate in decades, record food stamp usage, record entries on disability and jobs that pay better don't matter. Who knew?

Obama and the Democrats know they need to start buying ... I mean earning votes, that's why these two issues now top his agenda.sure, getting more people to work and fixing Obamacare would be good - but the would also highlight their failures over the last six years. They need to change the tooic of discussiin, and the media is only too happy to comply. Record numbers of people no longer working, and the Democrats and the media want to talk about the minimum wage and illegal immigrants. Both are issues that make our job market even worse, but as long as implementatiin is delayed until after the elections....
