If you look at enrollment you'll quickly see why St. Thomas has tended to dominate the MIAC in recent years. They do not belong in the MIAC any more, or even in Division III.

I coached with Koz and Flip at Golden Valley Lutheran College starting in 1977. We had the youngest coaching staff in the country. Flip, Mike Cervony and I were all 22 and Koz was 21. We were all still in college ourselves and you could see Koz was developing that passion for coaching way back then. After he took the St. Olaf job, he told me he was so excited about not having to stay in a hotel on road trips anymore. He said he would gladly finish his career at St. Olaf. I'm glad to see he is having success in the MIAC.

The MIAC is a total hodgepodge of mismatched schools.

Why the need to spout negativity? This is a great column highlighting a terrific coach at a wonderful school. The fact that Koz and the Oles are out there battling the Tommies for a shot at the crown should be applauded. Period.
