Umm...in 6th graph I think you meant "ravages" not "raptures." But I'm not your editor.

I feel very sad for the deer. They want to feed the deer so they can kill it on a hunt.

The best food for them is logging slash not pellets. Better to down some trees in scattered areas.

Thank you! And in your "dialogues" please keep in mind that this isn't so much about saving them now, as much as saving the fawns in the spring. I saw the condition the pregnant does were in last spring, and it's no surprise there were so few fawns. I still have fawns that are barely 3ft tall. So thank you for doing the right thing.

DNR's concern is not about the deer. It is about the number of deer licenses they can sell. Lack of deer equals lack of hunters equals lack of dollars. Ohhhhh...how sweet.

Deer aren't humans. Isn't this Mother Nature in action?

upthecreekFeb. 12, 14 6:36 PM

bstjern--mother nature dosen't also shoot deer

I don't know what map Dennis is looking at, but the WSI is already above 120 in much of the Arrowhead, not 90 as he suggests in the story. Count me as one hunter with a cabin in northern St. Louis County 100% against feeding the deer. All politics, IMO.

For the past 28 years I have hunted deer in the far Northeast and yes for a variety of reasons the deer herd is in the worst shape I have seen. If the DNR seriously wanted to do the right thing and wasn't worried about generating revenue from licenses, they'd go totally to a bucks only lotto until the herd in the Northeast recovers.

Great. Let's keep the population high o everyone has a chance to wreck their truck or car!
