He's not retiring now, he's retiring after the season. Misleading headline and content

This should be a fun year...Jeter, Selig and Gardy putting on their own "farewell" tours.

Since he wanted to remain a shortstop, he should have been done a couple years ago - he should have accepted a position change because he's been a defensive liability for quite a while (really, he should have moved from SS to 3B or OF when Rodriguez joined the Yankees, but that's another story). It's always better to leave a year too soon than a year too late. All in all, though, he's had a great career and is one of the all-time greats.

He also announced via Facebook that he'll have much more time to devote to "Facebooking."

A class act, future first ballot hall of famer and one if the greatest shortstops and Yankees of all time. The league will certainly miss having him in the game.

Jeter could still play for several years with the twinks after the 2014 season and be better at SS than anyone in the twinks organization. Not a fan of the Yanks but what a terrific career for Jeter.

Marginally interesting story about a decent player in a marginal sport. Baseball? Bleh...

No team as when a world series with a shortstop over 35 years old. Thanks for the good bye tour.
