Sinkhole swallows 8 classic cars at National Corvette Museum in Ky.; salvage outlook uncertain

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — It was a sight to make a classic car lover weep: A gaping sinkhole opened beneath the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky and swallowed eight prized cars like they were toys, piling them in a heap amid loose dirt and concrete fragments.

Someone might want to point out that September of 2014 is a mere 7 months away and not a year. Any pictures to share? Of the hole, not the cars.

It would be interesting to hear how insurance deals with this. I can't think of a better example of Act of God. Are the owners just out of luck???

Holy crap -- I toured the Corvette museum and manufacturing facility on Wednesday of last week! It's hard to imagine as I was walking around these very cars one week ago what was going beneath my feet! It reminds me of my visit to Pass Christian, MS, the week before Katrina struck!

Other than that poor poor 62', the only other car really worth anything is the ZR1 and mabye the Z06...Still sad though...This is the kind of story that really pulls at your soul :(
