Graco recalling nearly 3.8M car seats to fix buckles; feds want it to recall 1.8M more

DETROIT — Graco is recalling nearly 3.8 million car safety seats because children can get trapped by buckles that may not unlatch. But the company has drawn the ire of federal safety regulators who say the recall should include another 1.8 million rear-facing car seats designed for infants.

We run into this all the time, but it isn't caused by food. When it sticks we have to tighten the belt one extra click and then the mechanism releases so that the latch release works.

What does the Fed really want? If they know so much why don't they submit the "perfect design" in the first place?
