Belgian bid to extend right to die to children gets intense opposition, but expected to pass

BRUSSELS — Belgian lawmakers clashed sharply on Wednesday over whether to grant terminally ill children the right to ask to die, a legal option already possessed by the country's adults.

why wouldn't you want every second possible? I wonder if Zach (the clouds song) would have wanted to die earlier then he already did.

mypcaccount, those questions aren't for you to ask. Why would you want to force a child to prolong endless suffering? You think an extra 20 hours (or whatever) laying in a hospital bed filled up with meds and writhing in pain is worth it?

And why shouldn't you get a choice if you are in extreme pain and there is nothing more than can be done to aid in your suffering? It's OK for an adult, just because they have reached some obscure age we have deemed them to be an adult and of a mind to make decisions, to choose to let go of the pain but it's not OK for a child? We are more humane to our animals than we are to people.
