WASHINGTON — Unwilling to spook the markets and divided among themselves, House Republicans backed away from a battle over the government's debt limit Tuesday and permitted President Barack Obama's Democratic allies to drive quick passage of a measure extending Treasury's borrowing authority without any concessions from the White House.

Great plan, give Obama enough money to get through November, now theres no shut downs no debt limits to talk about. The sole focus will be on Obama and the Dems failed healthcare bill, bad economy, unemployment and lack of job creation. Then after November elections we can address the debt limit for real.

The GOPers folded like a cheap suit. Of course they voted to raise the debt ceiling hundreds of times under GOPer presidents. It only changed when Obama became president. Funny. What were they gonna do? Have the country not pay the bills for laws Congress has passed? Send the country into default? Get real.

theagonybho: "Great plan, give Obama enough money to get through November"...the debt ceiling is about paying bills already allocated and approved, NOT to get Obama or anyone through another month.

the debt ceiling is about paying bills already allocated and approved, NOT to get Obama or anyone through another month.--------when you have a president that refuses to negotiate a debt ceiling, you ARE giving him approval to spend as much as he wants. There is enough money coming in to pay the bills. this is about spending MORE money in the future.

I bet not a single member of the US House brought this up in a local town hall meeting cause that would be a great way to get run out of town on a rail.
