Go to the Wisconsin's DNR website and click on their Twitter account. There are pictures of three monster sturgeon all taken the same day.

What is the disposition of the fish? Is this a useless "trophy" effort or is there some other value to spearing Sturgeon?

Do you eat sturgeon? Seems a fish that old would be full of PCB's. How is it prepared?

Just wondering why you'd want to kill something that old for the fun of it?? You're certainly not going to eat it! Comment is coming from an avid fisherman.

Been fishing for 55+ years, never understood spearing. Fishing can be catch and release, spearing is forever...sorta barbaric.

The fish is smoked for food or used as fertilizer. Relax, go hug a tree and take a deep breath.

I thought caviar harvesting practiced catch and release. The only spearing I've done was with a toothpick and herring. If there was ice, there was usually an olive involved.
