Sen. Marco Rubio proposes higher education overhaul

MIAMI — Possible presidential contender Sen. Marco Rubio called Monday for overhauling the nation's higher education system to close an "opportunity gap" between Americans with and without advanced degrees.

Considering the government thinks a higher education is a right and not a privilege, why have tuition at all? Why not raise taxes so everyone can get an education? Then there wouldn't be a "growing opportunity gap" and it would be "fair" to everyone.

Gee CircleofLife, I usually disagree with you but this time I think you have a great idea. There is no reason why we shouldn't have government supported post-secondary education (both college and technical) - other countries manage to do it and we should too. The problem is, the right wing prefers an poorly educated populace so we'll never to get your pals in Congress to agree to it.
