The negotiations parried back and forth for weeks in early 2010, encompassing virtually every detail of Joe Mauer’s career. His lionization in his hometown. His status as an All-Star, and his allure to high-payroll contenders. His burgeoning power, Gold Glove defense and injury history.

Glad to read that Joe has his sights high and hopes to play 150 games in playing the least physically demanding position in the game. You go Joe! You can do it. Prove your doubters wrong!

Says a lot about "the fans" when they still haven't figured out why Mauer had one big HR season.

Wishing him well. I hope it's less stressful for his knees. But it just won't be the same without him behind the plate.

Joe's most hoped for improved stat (RBI) at 1B will depend far more on who hits in the 1-2 holes than fresh legs and less dings as a catcher.

Joe, you work where the boss tells you to work. Just like the rest of us workers out there trying to eke out a living for our families. The difference is you get paid millions. Sorry Joe, hard to feel sorry for you.

this move is at least 5 years too late.

Highly over rated behind the plate. He isn't even a top five catcher.

Why not ask Hrbek to help tutor Joe at first base during spring training? He was pretty good at the position.

One of the things that make me question the awarding of the Gold Glove the most is that Hrbek never got one when I believe he deserved several.
