Good to see that we have a head coach who knows how to evaluate talent and isn't afraid to cut players. Henderson may be a nice guy but he was never more than a special teams player. I think we will be seeing several more veteran players getting cut.

If it wasn't for the fact that EJ was his brother he wouldn't have played in the NFL.

You are all spot on in analysis. I believe Mauti and possibly Hodges are both much better players. I think Cole can be an every down player and if we find a really good linebacker early, like Mosely or Barr, we will have a fine second level of defense. Henderson displayed his lack of self discipline. But someone will probably give him a job.

Say bye bye Cassel. He is not the short term answer either.

Actually, talent was never the issue with Henderson. He's always had enough to play/start in the NFL, but it's his decision making (on and off the field) that has hurt and may ultimately put an end to his career. Apart from struggling at MLB last year, he was actually quite serviceable for the Vikings, ranking in the top 20 OLB in 4-3 (stats from PFF) schemes in both 2011 and 2012. It made sense to cut him and was basically a formality, but don't insult the guys talent level just because the Vikings released him. I wish him the best in. Getting over his personal issues and continuing NFL career; the former being the key issue.

Henderson is a good player. Is he All-Pro caliber? No, but every team is predominately stocked with good players who are not All-Pro's. Unfortunately, in today's working world every employee is just one or two personal weaknesses from hitting the soup line. My guess is some team will pick him up as a special teams player if he shows he has resolved his personal issues.
