Minnesota will end bulk sales of driver’s licenses

The policy, opposed by auto insurers and news media, will require specific inquiries and charge $5 per lookup.

This is quite a safety issue. There are a lot of services that download this stuff and remarket it to anyone willing to pay a few bucks. Great for stalkers, etc. But not so good for everyone else.

I hope this cuts down on junk mail. Also, the amount of personal information in some of the junk mail I receive (such as "Happy 65th Birthday!") is a little scary. Personal Information we are required to provide to the government should not be for sale.
