Football-playing father finds joy in Haula's success with Wild

Wild rookie Erik Haula didn’t follow in his father Tomi’s footsteps. And that’s worked well for all involved.

I can't help but wonder if Haula is tradable. Maybe we could do a package offer of Koivu, Haula, Brodzniak (terrible) and a first round pick for anyone other than a player like Koivu, Haula, Brodzniak... I'm really coming up short on things to rip the Mild on today. I think they lose to the Preds tonight 5-1 and therefore begin their downword spiral to tenth place in the west.

I have said this before...if Yeo and Fletcher move Haula to Iowa and keep Brodziak on the roster once Koivu comes back, they need to be declared certifiably insane. Haula is a better player than Brodziak right now and Brodziak has no upside and his skills have diminished. Haula has plenty of upside and is more valuable not only in the future, but now as well.

ARRey sez: Nice story, Mr. Russo.

Haula is good enough defensively, can win tough draws, and has offensive upside. He seems like the perfect 3rd line center. His ceiling eclipses Brodz, so Brodz should be on the 4th or in the press box. Give Haula all the scoring chances that Brodz has had and the Wild may have 1-2 more wins under their belt. I have never seen one player be in the right place at the right time as Brodziak. Too bad he can't finish.

I agree with laknee, Nice story. And another hard working classy young man for the Wild team. Best of luck to him and his future.

Haula skates like the wind, Brodziac skates like he should retire..

I agree about Haula, but, ARE YOU SERIOUS. Fletcher will not allow Brodziak to go to Iowa. He signed him to an new contract a few years ago and we will never admit that it just isn't working out. Actually the best bet is to give Brodziak away, for nothing if that is what it takes to get out of his salary. Haula will be just fine. Still believe keeping Konopka as opposed to Rupp for our tough guy role would have been a much much better idea.

Great story. When Russo wrote back in September that Fletcher was considering Haula as one of the guys fighting for the 4th line center spot I thought it seemed far fetched. But he's proved Fletcher right and that he belongs.
