Minnesota State Fair raises admission prices by $1 for 2014

It will take another buck for folks to get into the Minnesota State Fair, officials said Wednesday.

"Their costs continue to go up." Let's see. They charge admission. They charge vendors fees plus they get a percentage of their revenues. They had over 1.7 visitors the last three years. I'm guessing they have security costs, clean up costs, and other overhead costs. But they are taking in a heck of a gate and adding the take from vendors, they are pulling in a ton of cash.

The State Fair brings in around $40 million in revenue, but they also spend nearly the same amount putting on the fair. The profit is around $1 to $2 million per year, but that money goes to projects such as the new transit center. Nobody is getting rich putting on the State Fair.

This is like the Vikings stadium, why do we spend so much money on things that are used 10 days a year?

Haven't been in 5+ years because the prices are outrageous. Clearly I'm not missing anything.
