As luck would have it I can't think of any reason that I will ever need a passport.

Hennepin county not offering passport services to its residents is a disgrace. This is a far more important service than employing a bike and pedestrian coordinator. There are way too many from the loony left in charge in many areas of the metro. Being able to get a passport is a vital service. A big shake up is in order here.

I thought the post office handled passports? How hard can it be?

Thanks for the service Hennepin County. So much for service to the People.

What's interesting is Hennepin County can hire a bicycle coordinator for $68,000/year, plus benefits, but can't afford to process passports.

It's really inconvenient. The county just doesn't want to deal with anything that doesn't bring in a bunch of money. They hand you a slip that directs you to a handful of city and post offices. They don't tell you that most of them are limited to appointments only and they may only have a few per day. Hennepin County residents deserve better for the taxes that are collected.

Wow.. this is shameful...and embarrassing. I live in the largest county in the state, which is incapable of providing the most basic services...hope I don't get sick.

FYI you can still get a passport in Minneapolis at the Minneapolis Passport Agency in the old federal building downtown. You just can't get it at the Hennepin County Government Center or other HC offices. I got my latest passport there. I received excellent service and received my Passport quickly. Couldn't have asked for more.

The Minneapolis Passport agency will charge you an extra $60 because all they do is expedite the way.

"benedict636-Hennepin county not offering passport services to its residents is a disgrace. This is a far more important service than employing a bike and pedestrian coordinator." Hiring a single bike an pedestrian coordinator and putting them in a cube is a little different than having to build separate spaces for passport applications and moving or hiring more staff. I kind of like the idea of a coordinator. As a bike commuter I think it's a good thing that someone at the county is considering my safety as roads are maintained and built. The Roseville Passport Office on Lexington is up and running. It's next to the licensing center. We got a family fishing license, passport for my kid, snowmobile, motorcycle and car tabs in about an hour on a Saturday morning. Set me back about $350, but it was efficient.
