Column: A miserable night for Manning when he needed it the most

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The talk, at least before the Denver Broncos took a team vote and decided not to show up for the game, was that Peyton Manning might call it a career and ride off into the sunset after winning his second Super Bowl ring.

A disappointment for Manning and the Broncos, sure. But I think the outcome of this game is really a testament to the versatility and strength of the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks pretty much scored in every way imaginable, and their defensive coverage was perfection. I don't know that any team on the field against the Seahawks last night would have fared much differently than the Broncos. (Maybe the 49ers. But they still would have lost.) We saw the best team in the NFL win the Super Bowl last night.

Get over it-so he proved he's not 'the greatest of all time'. Time to get back to work, try again next time.

The Bronkos were stymied on all their favorite plays. Seattle took everything away from them. No yards after catch, no swing passes for more than 4 yards, no time to get receivers deep, no running game...nothing a QB (great or average) could do about this. I love defense, and this was a thrill to watch. THE CULT OF THE QB took a big hit last night.

Hi! I must have missed it, but did the Vikings make the super bowl this year? It sure looked like it last nite, only the Vikes previous 4 no-shows matched up with how badly the team in Orange played last nite!

Yes Manning had a bad night, but his center didn't help. The ball seemed to be all over the place. That alone must have driven Manning to distraction, I kept waiting for another one to be centered over his head.
