WASHINGTON — There's been no real reduction in the number of U.S. school shootings despite increased security put in place after the rampage at Connecticut's Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012.

The common thread is boys who are hopeless.......And who have access to guns. Banning guns is the answer. Too bad the NRA is so powerful and that half the nation is gun crazy.

The common thread is people who are known to be mentally ill or unstable.......And who have access to unarmed victims.

The common thread is mentally unstable people with access to weapons that can easily kill many people quickly. If they had to bring a bow and arrow into the school they would be much easier to disarm than If they came in with a handgun. I realize that half of America is addicted to the feeling of power ands after they get from owning a gun. So let's find a middle ground. How about we only ban guns that shoot more than one bullet before needing to be reloaded. That way the psycho in the school has to reload every time he tries to shoot someone, vastly improving the odds of surviving his attack. And gun nuts get to still keep feeling safe and strong.

How about we only ban guns that shoot more than one bullet before needing to be reloaded. ************ Technically all weapons only shoot one bullet before they require reloading.

And these disaffected and suicidal shooters are virtually guaranteed their fifteen minutes of fame by a sensationalist media, ever-willing to stir-up drama. Perhaps if these incidents were not trumpeted about, these "hopeless" males would just quietly commit suicide and leave everybody else alone. After all, the rise in these incident are connected to the rise of the influence of the media.

The Irish Republican Army (IRA) and the Taliban have done plenty of damage without the use of guns.

fliptongz: "The Irish Republican Army (IRA) and the Taliban have done plenty of damage without the use of guns." ==== So we should ignore the thousands of needless deaths in the US due to firearms because revolutionaries around the world prefer bombs in some circumstances?? Anything to take the focus off the senseless murders of innocents by shooters with semiautomatic weapons. Look at the shiny keys over here!!!

The NRA has pulled off the greatest hoax on the most powerful country. More people have died from gun violence than all of our wars combined. More guns=more shots fired=more deaths. Plain and simple.
