Groundhog handlers say Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, forecasting 6 more weeks of winter

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. — Emerging from his lair on Super Bowl Sunday, groundhog Punxsutawney Phil couldn't predict the winner of the big game but his handlers said he was sure of his weather forecast: There will be six more weeks of winter.

It's a pretty safe forecast that Minnesota will always have 6 more weeks of winter, the question is whether it will be 8 or 10 more weeks.

"Area51": You're right. 6 more weeks of winter would be great! It's the May 7 snowstorm, like last year, that I dread.

If something "accidentally" happened to Phil we could solve the problem of him seeing his shadow.

Phil is the original "climate" scientist. The "science" hasn't advanced beyond wild guesses and the odds of successful speculation are about the same as Phil's.
