Great article on a super kid. Another example an excellent local talented player that Tubby Smith had no interest in. His dad plays football at the U, his step dad played basketball for the Gophers, yet Tubby in all his wisdom just let the kid walk away. Good luck Sanjay!

I met Eugene at the off street parking lot a few years ago. And I always look for him when I fly. He's proud of his family, and has a great time telling stories about their activities. Thank Patrick!

Leave it to Pat to find the only local person to take joy in this horrible loss.

@shock4321, so true in what you said. Tubby went all around and brought back DII and DIII talent. Maverick. Buggs, Ellenson this is why we have nothing for depth. There have been alot of kids in the 6 years he was here that never even got a look. Nate Wolters Tubby never even phoned him but he goes out to California and brings back Maverick. He should have been fired sooner than he was, but we have to pay the consequences for his ugly recruiting.

Not feeling overly charitable about Northwestern's decades-long struggles, but I can sympathize with taking pleasure in small things like a 3-game road winning streak. Still, it's an awful loss that should never have happened, for multiple reasons. Visiting Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln convinced me that we need to upgrade our facilities. If not a new Williams, get the so-called "practice facility", increase Pitino's budget, and let's separate ourselves from the Northwesterns of the conference once and for all. Tired of feel-good stories for other teams in the Strib.

As Sir Richard starts getting in his own players the Gophers will start winning more games. What I think should happen is starting with next year, they should charge an extra $10 per seat at the Barn for EACH seat for each home game. That would be over $100,000 per home game. If they have just 10 home games a year, that's over a Million Dollars a year. That money could go directly against a loan taken out for the practice facility. Next year the Gophers will win more games and tickets will get harder to get. The next year they should win more again and tickets will be even harder to get. In the meantime, by the end of the 3rd year or so the Gophers should have raise the $190 million and can pay the thing off in full.
