In MN six losses, the opponents scored 94, 87, 87, 82, 75, and 63 points - and MN was close in most... MN averages 76 points a game and 73 a game in Big Ten - the lowest being 60 - which says that a weak offense is not losing games. But giving up 80s and 94 says that lapses in defense is.

Two things: King a Richard is one of the more intelligent coaches in D-1 basketball. 2 his team has had it sips and downs, but they have exceeded the expectations of most of the "experts".

I love Gophs sports but it seems we should beware the 'signature win' 1. It only really gets the coach's face on ESPN. 2. The 'let down' seems to come the following game - typically against teams they should beat. I'll give R-Pits a free pass for this season. But signature wins are only resume' builders for the coach - they don't do much good for the program when they lay an egg the following game against an unranked club.

King Richard is the greatest, but the Gophs are going to continue to lose with Hollins out; including today against NW.

He's young....but grew up getting schooled in hoops by his Pappy. I'm glad he's here. Good basketball mind...thinks about it constantly. If he can recruit....the Gophers have a bright future indeed.

With Hollins out I'm worried about foul trouble. With the way Pitino likes to play tight pressing defense with Hollins not available and Little Dre, Malik or Austin get in foul trouble we have nobody you want in the game at the guard spot for more then 3 or 4 minutes at the most. If Pitino is forced to play Mav 7 or 8 minutes a half they'll lose every time.

Offense is 100% improved over last year. (How could it not be?) Defense is better, but they still do not drive the ballhandler out on picks enough. Walker will be the starting center before year end. Mathieu and Smith have made a huge positive difference in this team. They are really worth watching this year. Keep it up Richard. Hope you can recruit to fill weak spots for next year.

Another shocking loss at home. season is collapsing. Rick Jr. is looking a lot like Tubby right now, will he survive his first year?

Another loss to a club the Gophs should have beaten. The players have shown they can compete with anyone ... so I can only look to the guy in the Brooks Brothers suit and Johnston & Murphy's on the sidelines. I hope he improves!
