Toyota is no longer on my consideration list since its episode of resistance, obstruction and outright lies regarding the stuck accelerator problem. People died because of Toyota's inaction, and they continued to die wile Toyota persistently denied that there was a problem.

Does this mean we won't be entertained by their dealer receptionist 'Jan' anymore?? I won't have to mute the commercial?

You are wrong fishback. Toyota recalled 7.5 million vehicles for the accelerator problem. 21 people have died and they have settled some of those cases already. Stop with the false claims. Now, here they are... found a problem... are doing something about it... and you still sit here and whine.

I've said for some time now that you couldn't GIVE me a Toyota...too many recalls on critical systems/parts. You just don't know what's gonna turn up next.

here's wishing Toyota oodles of problems continuing. They and the selling dealer blamed me for months for the dying battery on my brand new Camry (turned out to be a bad computer) and when winter came they told me the remote start was working just FINE (gotta be standing within 20 FEET of the car for the remote to work!) I told them then and I remind them annually that I will NEVER buy another Toyota! (A shame in some ways too; my current dealer is the BEST dealership I've ever worked with!)

I wonder what Jan would say about that?

See I wouldn't buy anything other than a Toyota because they are generally engineered to outlast most of the competition by 200,000 miles, and their maintenance demands aren't even close to US made vehicles? Why can't US engineers come of with comparable models? with only 297,000 on my current Toyota I won't need to be buying tomorrow, but the next time I do, it won't be one of the 100,000 profit makes for subsidy demanding US campanies (not that Toyota doesn't also demand subsidies in the US).

Love my Prius! celtman1 - as for too many recalls, have you checked out the Ford Escape?

A lot of their problems are traced back to their increased production in the US. Just saying...
