Bill mandating at least 30 minutes of gym class daily for elementary students considered

MADISON, Wis. — Parents, teachers and doctors are joining together to support a bill that would require elementary students in Wisconsin to get at least half an hour of daily physical education.

Long overdue. Since standardized testing has taken hold phy ed classes get cut left and right. Enough is enough. Our country is fat enough as it is, no need to keep another reason for this epidemic in place. Phy Ed should be in place through high school, mandatory.

Obesity has nothing to do with gym class. It has to do with eating habits and excercise habits out of school. What will 30 Minutes, 2 times a week do for the that goes home, eats cheetos and watches TV for 4 hours a night. And, which class are they going to cut for this. Kids already are falling behind in math and reading. Just another example of Gov't trying to take over the responsibility of the parent.

Drive this mind set into their little brains while they are young. You need exercise everyday along with proper food and sleep. They need to learn these basic concepts when they are young. When that problem gets solved the rest will fall into place. Grades will improve. If you don't feel good and are not very awake, you lose interest in learning in a hurry.
