The Twin Cities and the rest of Minnesota are creaking through what threatens to be another twice-round-the-clock subzero experience. Relief is on the way, or so we are told.

Folk we live in Minnesota and we should be prepared for this kind of weather in January. For older folks like me, this was a normal January back thirty of more years ago.

Just because the roads are clear doesn't mean they're safe. It's black ice for a reason. Please be smart and safe about driving in this stuff.

No one would get frostbite if they would dress appropriately - including all the school kids. And it's not as if they are outside waiting for the bus for hours at a time. This is Minnesota! IT'S GOING TO GET COLD IN WINTER. And as far as all the global weather/climate change denialists, check out Paul Douglas' weather column from today, regarding how many days below zero we've had in the past 100+ years. We haven't had as many recently as we have 20+ years ago. Get a grip!

tituspilo, Do I like the cold weather. absolutely not! but worry about the things you can control such as having warm & safe clothing for yourself and children. worry about your car and furnace are in good working condition. Weather is something we can not control!

Far too much hand-wringing over the weather. Just suck it up and deal with it. It will be too hot and too humid too soon!!

There's cold, then there's this! I like to think I'm a hearty Minnesotan, but it's bad. My dogs, both over 100 lbs with a double coat, don't like being outside for over a few minutes- and they LOVE snow. It's too cold! But... MOA offering free rides, that's awesome! I know some people who had to take off work because the kids didn't have school, and I think that would be a godsend. Really nice!

ak13741: "It will be too hot and too humid too soon!!"...LOL, after this winter it will never be too hot and humid, and certainly not too soon.

If it is too cold to go to school then it should also be too cold to go to the MOA. I thought the purpose of closing schools was to keep the kids warm and safe.
