State appeals court rejects request for more environmental study of Minntac iron ore mine expansion

One of the state’s largest taconite mines does not need a new environmental study to expand and keep operating for another 16 years, according to a Minnesota Court of Appeals ruling Monday.

Good thing, because it would take another 16 years to get approval of the environmental impact study.

It is already proven that they have polluted nearby waterways. Why not make it a market decision to clean up their act? Make the fines in the tens of millions range and watch them actually take their pollution seriously.
