Year-round school would help this problem. Kids do not need to miss school to help on the farm anymore so there is no need to have a 3 month break in education. Take a few 3-week breaks throughout the year and everyone gets their vacation time in a season that they enjoy. I have no doubt that it would help close the education gap as well.

We've known since Thursday that its going to be cold. Parents should be prepared by now to know how to dress there kids appropriately for the cold. This is Minnesota after all. Certainly the Metro schools should be ready to have school Monday, Tuesday and Wed.

I would like to see some real reporting on this topic. Namely, who specifically are the decision makers when deciding whether to cancel school, and what temperature is the cut off point. Also, I would like to know why there have been so many cancellations this year. Granted, it has been a cold winter, but not all that remarkably cold.
