Hagel says 'something is wrong' inside Air Force nuke missile corps, but it will get fixed

WASHINGTON — Vowing to look hard at problems inside the Air Force's nuclear missile corps, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said Friday it's clear "something is wrong" and he is determined to restore public confidence in the nuclear force.

I can tell you the "basers" who had silo duty were one hard-partying bunch on their off time in the 70s. a decade after I was out of the news business up there, when they started decommissioning Minuteman III pads, the stories finally started coming out of bar brawls and the like that made one think of port call classics. that's serious duty, and there was some serious unwinding.

Why do we still have these weapons? The cold war is over. We need to get rid of them. There should be an informed debate about this in Congress.

Ask Gates - he was in charge for years and until just recently... when you ask him about being inept and letting it get to this point, try to catch him between his bashing of his boss and co workers for being inept.
