Um, other than dirt, what pollution? It's not heavy metal mining, it's not smelting, it is just gravel and dirt. I agree that if you cut into or too close to the aquifer, it could get temporarily dirtied, but the 500 year comment is chicken-little quality, and the irrational thoughts behind it should disqualify the official from EVER having any say in it or any other environmental project.
