More aggressive Kevin Martin might have regained form

Early in Saturday’s game against Utah at Target Center, with the scored tied at nine, Kevin Martin started doing what Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman has been asking him to do for a while now. He got aggressive.

Martin has been one of the biggest disappointments so far this season. He's been great at scoring points when the wolves are in a game where they're way ahead and no pressure. But in the close games where you really need his veteran leadership and ability he's been non existent. So call me skeptical that he's turned ANY kind of corner until we see what he can do with the game on the line.

Martin usually stands around the 3 point circle and watches his teammates. When he is not hitting his shots from out there which has been the case for the last month, he is a liability. Unlike Brewer he can't make up for it on defense. It was refreshing to see him attack the rim the last game and score and rebound like Shved does. This team can't win against good teams unless Budinger or Shabazz start contributing points off the bench. We are giving up too many points from the guards because Rubio can't shoot and Barea plays with the reserves. Luc, Turiaf and Dieng also need to become better defenders in the paint. Right now other teams are scoring at will against Love and Pekovic inside.

I'd rather have Kirilenko.

The Wolves are 3 games ahead of last year's injury plagued season. They still need time to gel. San Antonio's stars have been together for years. Same with OKC, Miami, Portland....They will get better. Adelman needs to play Dieng and Muhammad more. Maybe he's saving them for next year, since we don't have a first round pick. Thanks Kahhhhhhhhn!

Kevin Martin came here as a defensive liability. His offense has not been as good as advertised....I am not impressed.

Martin is the 2nd leading scorer (19.2 ppg)on the team and has scored 20+ a game 18 times this season. I wouldn't call that one of the biggest disappointments so far this season. Every player goes through shooting slumps like Martin is going through. Even Kevin Love had some bad shooting games (2-14, 4-20, 3-14), too. Did you not remember how bad Pek was playing for the month of November? Where were all the haters when Martin was averaging 23+ a game for the month November?

pnhuang...I waiting for Martin to hit some shots when it really matters. Not the veteran presence I was expecting. He likes to shoot and that is about it.

ljb6599... Did you watch the Clippers games? Martin scored 10 4th quarter points in the first Clippers game and 15 4th quarter points in the second Clippers game. He also scored 10+ points in the 4th quarter in the first two Dallas games. He brought the team back those games and the Wolves won. Recently, he scored 14 points in the 4th quarter against the Raptors. I don't know what games you were watching. How can Martin produce in the 4th quarter like he used to when there weren't many plays run for him late in the game? Earlier in the season, there were the two-man game with him/KLove and the Martin post-ups which they no longer run for Martin during crunch time.

I'd like to see Coach play Rubio more in the 4th quarter. Things just don't run as well when it's all-Barea-all-the-time.
