Kuemper is the future, Backstrom is the old vet now...he knows that. Keeping all goalies freash and healthy all year is a good thing.

So many class acts on this Wild team. Love it.

Russo, explain why he wouldn't have Backstrom's support? In case you hadn't noticed, it's a team game.

Just think where Darcy would be today had Yeo not exhausted Backs during the playoff stretch last year and had the opportunity to start a few games? He was the only reason the Wild beat Dallas. Yeo has got to Go.

I think you and the Wild are setting us up for a Backstrom surprize start in the near future. Watch Kuemper have a minor ding that will keep him from starting soon.

It might be still a tad early to crown him but I think Kuemper has calmed a lot of nerves in the Wild front office. Remember a few weeks ago Russo blogged about maybe even going after a vet like Theodore? I think that discussion has cooled off. Russo tweeted just now that Gustaffson (spelling??) has been recalled from Iowa. So it looks like Backs and Harding might not be able to go in Dallas tomorrow. Speculation, though. Let's see what the boss blogs in a little bit.

I never saw this coming. After Kuemper played in the Toronto road game and then again shortly after that, he did'nt look like he was ready to start in the big show yet. So it was back to the AHL. I don't know what he learned or ate down there in Iowa but he developed a massive amount of confidence between then and now. It's great to see a young kid work through the difficult leap to the NHL. Let's hope he's for real and not like another Steve Mason.

Now all of a sudden Backstrom can't go. hilarious. In 2 hours Backstrom went from a backup chopping at the bit to get a start. To a near season ending injury. It doesn't pass the smell test.

Darcy was great last year as well, he got very few opportunities. In his starts against Vancouver, Anaheim and Detroit last year, he played outstanding. It's tough coming off the bench cold and being thrown to the wolves in games like he was a few games last year, especially when he wasn't getting many starts in between. This kid has all the tools to be a star goalie, will be interesting to see how he handles giving up a soft goal. Other than that just needs some rebound control as he is a big kid and super athletic.
