What's open and closed on Martin Luther King Day

Of course the post office is closed. They get all the holidays that none of the rest of us get, another one being Columbus Day. One of the many reasons why they run billion dollar deficits each year and need to be subsidized by the taxpayer.

Congress has $75 billion of USPS money - the USPS gets no taxpayer dollars - be informed before commenting..

Stingball, why shouldn't the Postal Service be subsidized by the taxpayer? It is a government service, mandated in our Constitution. It has recently been required to finance pensions far into the future. This is a major reason that it is "in the red".

The drive into downtown Minneapiolis was great this morning. No traffic! Why? Because the state's largest employer is the federal government and the state's second largest employer is the state itself.

Rather than complaining about the half-dozen holidays that post offices and other commerce is shut down, why not start with the 52 Sundays?

Hey Star Tribune- If you were truly aware of what MLK stood for, the pic you showed that accompanied the closings article would have showed people from various ethnic backgrounds, not just one.
