I remember that game very well when we had the 21-5 lead, up by 16 and lose by 21. One of the poorest coached games among many last year that I've ever seen.

A half-season does not a model make. Maybe the Gophs should aim a little higher with old "model" thing. Maybe, perhaps, oh-I-don't-know, Michigan St.? Iowa has been pretty junky for a couple of decades. Let's calm down a little bit about the Hawkeyes. Good grief.

Even though they are all together and feeling it now, the Gophers are still in the learning games for the trust and sharing when the wheels wobble... Will they handle recent success by having everyone compete, focus competition on the opponent rather than letting ego put it on team mates? And the leadership matrix has yet to be fully tested... Will the team leaders think they have to be managers - managers who tell you what you need to do and how to do it - or will they have leaders who let flow get each player to want to use their talents and grow and help the group win? I'm betting that in the next few games, we'll see some highlight teamwork, and they will be the scrappiest dog in the fight... And March will be a happy time for Gophers.

With Minnesota's rich Basketball history. Why in the world would they model anything on Iowa? Let Pitino do his own thing. The program is in the right direction.

I don't think Iowa is what the Gophers aspire to. Iowa is still a middle-of-the-pack squad that has struggled to win big games. You spent a lot of time talking about their win against Ohio State, who has proven to be very beatable over the last two weeks, but scarcely mention their other games against quality opponents. If Iowa were really at a 'pinnacle', they would find ways to beat teams like Iowa State, Villanova and Wisconsin.

Even though the Gophers lost today, Iowa has been pretty bad the last 10 years or so in basketball. The Gophers lead the all time series against Iowa in basketball and football. The author of this article is smoking something??? Maybe an Iowa fan??
