This line will be completed before the SW line because there are no Kenwood types in the way.

$46 million to put together a plan and proposal? Only in Government.

Now we're pushing forward with not one but two trains we can't afford. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

Yet another train to bypass the density - why isn't this one going up West Broadway? They keep telling us that one of the positives is redevelopment...are they going to build condos and a Walmart on Wirth Parkway?? SW should be going down lake to Hennepin/Lyndale or Nic - this is just another gaggle.

I wonder if they will run the dangerous freight next to the LRT rails. I'm sure it will be fine for north Mpls since their land (and people) isn't worth as much as the precious Kenilworth corridor.

A vote of 3-2 is a smooth road? It is nice the Star and Cycle can put the blinders on for the toy trains.

I am beginning to believe that this generation will not understand the benefits of this system of rail travel like Europe has had for decades now. Once one goes to Europe and travels on their system, you come back to the USA and ask, "Why are we so far behind in this technology?" It will take the next generation of Americans to fully understand and appreciate rail travel in America. It costs more to implement because we are starting so late, and keep throwing road-blocks in front of it to delay it even more, which just rasises the cost once again.

YellowDog2 - you're very correct. The U.S. is SO far behind. GarageWhine - The cost of light rail pales in comparison to the subsidized highway construction in this state - can we afford that? Let's catch up, Minnesota. Let's catch up, U.S., so we can again be exceptional.

garagewine- I'm sure you'll agree that we can easily "afford" it, the problem is that we, collectively, aren't contributing enough to our government. Rather than taking the defeatist attitude of "we can't afford it", take the initiative to contact your legislators and demand that all, especially the wealthy, are taxed at reasonable rates to raise the revenue that benefits us all.
