St. Paul City Council to weigh private golf manager

The St. Paul City Council on Wednesday will take up a resolution to turn over operations of two city-owned golf courses to a private company.

The photo caption reads, "Canadian geese". It's 'Canada Geese'. "Canadian" geese implies citizenship. "Canada Geese is the name of the type of goose. C'mon Strib! You ought to know this by now.

You know, if they couldn't make it work a city run, it is tempting to imagine that privatizing them would somehow be the piece of magic that would make them profitable. But the real problem is that there are a lot of golf courses in the east metro. Too many for the current level of interest. There are many other public uses to which this land can be put. Flogging a dead horse won't make the horse run.

I think they should start a new annual golf invitational at the Phalen golf course. East Side Boyz vs Ham Crazy.
