I'm a Natural Resources Management major at North Dakota State and this is an awesome thing. Hopefully it gets put into action and things will improve.

This sounds like a really great idea. MN should be a national leader in this way but so often our politics and gridlock interfere with the progress. Perhaps this is one area where the right people and groups are already in place to just usher this through once it has been formalized. This state is beautiful but more could be done than currently is. We've gotten lazy. I would like to see them include reinstitution of vehicle emissions testing and more aggressive litter control and clean up too. Find a way to create jobs out of these programs that could get connected with the state's welfare program to get one off the ground and the other off their couches.

Another executive program for "experts." Much of what we see that is healthy environment is maintained by private citizens. Usually very smart people who endure the mosquito bites and costs in various ways. Then they get nailed by property taxes. The housing speculation crash and oil price rise brought back traditional "conservative" ways.

Nat. resources always gets the short end of the stick from politicians when it comes right down to it. Forestry, wildlife, water are important. But with the ethanol craze eating up farmland it will take a back seat to the energy starved American gas guzzlers. Seems like most people think water comes from faucets and wildlife is something you see in zoos. People need alot of education.

When the Europeans "discovered" America he found remarkable abundance. Early writers thought such abundance was the "natural order." He forgot the native population built large "sustainable" cultures by always improving their environment. People can be nature's best friend or worst enemy. We have been removing people from the environment and replacing them with industrial agriculture and government supervision. England's Prince Charles has an excellent effort to return people to natural connections.

Thanks for the road map. The landscape continues to deteriorate due to increased population and the increases in resource use and often abuse. Until we invest in the plans, we know the results. 4 of 10 lakes tested do not meet basic clean water standards according to the Pollution Control Agency. It will only get worse. This fall we have an opportunity to vote on a constitutional amendment that will finally raise the money to do more than analyze the problem. Vote Yes on the Clean Water Amendment November 4.

Vote NO in November unless you want to head down the same road of more money heading to St. Paul and less in your pockets.
