The Bengals assistant said late Tuesday night that he had not been offered the job.

I wonder if other teams fans message boards is one of Spielmans 13 categories for picking the next head coach. Most Bengal fans seem to not want Zimmer to leave, so that would be a good sign if it is.

"[Bowles] likely would interview again only if the Vikings say no to Zimmer." Why only if they say no? Spielman has said on numerous occasions that he planned to bring three finalists in for interviews with the ownership, and he can't bring in two more if they give the job to the first guy they interview.

I know I am getting old but the Vikings have only been around for 52 going on 53 years. they started in 1961 so I am the same age. not yet 64 years, I hope

My guess is that Zimmer is the type of guy that wants some control over player personnel and that has proven to be a deal breaker in the past. Look for Spielman to bring in another lap dog like Childress and Frazier.

I wish we were just talking about Zimmer being our new defensive coordinator. I also have to wonder why Spielman just left the whole coaching staff (outside of Frazier) on the payroll. Wouldn't that be for the sake of letting a new head coaching prospect pick and choose what he might want that's already on the coaching staff anyway? That would include Musgrave who Zimmer already has ties with. We need a head coaching prospect who can bring in two solid coordinators. That's something the Vikings don't have in Williams and Musgrave.

What a class organization. They made the guy fly commercial from Cincinnati. I have no idea why some think working for this organization is a top line job?

With just the lowly Browns needing a head coach that leaves the Vikings to take their time and get exactly who they want. There are great coaches out there yet who are at Seattle, San Fran, New England and Denver who cannot or won't interview or who the Vikings won't commit to until their season is over. There isn't a coach who is already taken that I would want as the Vikings head coach. Well done, Mr Spielman. Haters.....commence hating.

rms...You need a ring to get a jet ride. Maybe a Parcells, a Cowher or Tony Dungy but not Mike Zimmer. I am sure he was very comfortable in his first class seat.

Maybe the Vikes are still interested in Roman. There is only 1 other team that still needs a HC [Cleveland]. I'm glad the Vikes are being patient in their pick. After firing their HC after only 1 year, I believe Cleveland is not the better place to be a HC. Vikes seem to have their pick of the litter. GO VIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only a few problems. We are still relying on Spielman to choose a coach, rebuild the depleted roster, and find a QB. He is the reason we need to do all three yet remains in charge. Anyone thinking this all ends well with multiple playoff appearances is drinking purple kool aid.
