Isn't the 3pm trick the oldest trick in the last ditch effort to derail a project.

And the Manns' complaint will read: "We're against the project and are enjoying our newfound power to potentially cost taxpayers even more than they're already on the hook for, thanks to this delaying tactic. Oh, and the publicity is fun, too."

This lawsuit is totally frivolous and completely and utterly without merit. It is political grandstanding in its basest form. It is totally just that the Manns should have to pay for any cost overruns resulting from this delay. Not everyone is in favor of the stadium deal or the Downtown East development plan. But this is a Democracy and you don't always get what you want. Anti-stadium advocates have the right to vote out any representatives whom they feel did not adequately represent their views. But this petty nonsense of filing frivolous 11th hour lawsuits is just childish, petulant, and quite frankly, desperate. We have no room for obstructionism in today's society.

A request for briefs? Not quite the quick dismissal the state was expecting. Step by agonizing step this is slowly marching along. Still a long shot but the knowledge that this is probably driving the MSFA and the others who rammed this through nuts is delicious.

Wonder if Doug Mann has $49.7M hiding under his couch cushions...

A few things: 1) This lawsuit was only filed after Doug Mann's original lawsuit was dismissed last fall (however, that judge did admit the city should have held a referendum), so it's not as if he just dreamed it up last week; 2) if the Vikings and the state legislature had taken their time in crafting the stadium bill and financing, we would not be here. Instead, they crammed a bill through with shaky financing (gambling as a revenue source? seriously?) and are now trying to appeal to that same sense of anxiety to keep people from seeing what a poor job they did.

I believe I have an extra pair of briefs I can lend them.

The MSFA chair is acting like a bully: making threats and spreading fear. Doug Mann is standing up against that bully, standing up for the little guy: Minneapolis taxpayers. We have the right to a referendum. The bullies are trying their best to sidestep that right. This lawsuit is anything but frivolous: it's a matter of democracy and fairness.

Being a season ticket holder for many years, I am not a fan of the state doing this, as a minimum, it should have let the state vote on it, since it is requiring the state to pay for it, just kinda makes sense doesn't it? So instead, the billionaires come up with a plan so the millionaires can play while the thousandaires pay for it, really, why isn't this a problem?

I am neither for nor against a new stadium and I certainly realize that whenever you have a project of this magnitude and it involves public funds, proponents and opponents will voice their opinion. I do not fault Doug Mann for his position; after all we are entitled to our own opinion. However, I question character for choosing to wait until the bond sale was immanent before he filed his legal challenge. Furthermore, if Doug Mann is willing make a move such as his challenge, which according to the article, “…could imperil the planned opening of the stadium for the 2016 NFL season, and delay payment of hundreds of workers and businesses with a concrete interest in the stadium project,” I believe the Minneapolis voters made the right decision when they made sure Doug Mann did not win the Mayoral race. I certainly would not want a leader that is so focused on their own personal interests that they are willing to pull a shenanigan such as Mann has pulled at the last moment. Doug Mann, you need to “man” up and accept the fact you cannot always have things your way.
