Beanie Babies billionaire creator avoids prison, gets probation in $25M tax evasion case

CHICAGO — The billionaire businessman behind Beanie Babies learned Tuesday that he won't go to prison for hiding at least $25 million from U.S. tax authorities, and the judge who gave him two years' probation instead went to great lengths to praise his charitable giving.

Now I'm not an anti-Tax Guy by any means, But what about all of the other Millionaires and Billionaires that have done the same thing...Many Corporations and Individuals like Mitt Romney and Friends come to mind....I guess it's How You Stash It, Huh????

I am sure the public humiliation and private torment is just as hard on this poor rich man as 5 years in jail! Nah, he's high-fiving his lawyers and going cha-ching, baby! I never thought I'd see the day where America became an complete oligarchy but I'm pretty convinced we're there now.

Again the rich and famous get off without any prison time!!! We have so many rich people who claim to be "proud Americans" and yet they don't want to pay taxes on their wealth! The justice system is SO UNFAIR, it makes me ill!! If a poor person owes taxes, the government right after their behinds to pay up....and they might only owe a few thousand, but if you owe hundreds of thousands, you get probation, because of your charity work! Wow!

I would have punished him by making him buy back $25m worth of worthless Beanie Babbies that he conned folks into buying. My mom has boxes of them...
