Southwest Airlines flight lands at wrong SW Missouri airport; runway significantly shorter

BRANSON, Mo. — A Southwest Airlines flight that was scheduled to arrive Sunday night at Branson Airport in southwest Missouri instead landed at an airport about 7 miles northeast — with a runway about half the size of the intended destination.

Lucky for them the runway wasn't wet or icy.

NWA did this several years ago when a plane landed at the AF base instead of Rapid City Airport. Oops!

Don't they need clearance from air traffic control before landing. I imagine that's a good time for the pilot to make sure he/she is at the right airport.
