And this is the mayor that won some business award. NO jobs in that town. Unless you're a meds or ads person, good luck. Duluth wants to be a hipster town. Wake up with those statistics.

We have to care for the most vulnerable people in our society. Many times there is mental illness, problems with chemical use, and a history of physical and emotional abuse. Some people end up in the streets because they were living pay-check-to-paycheck and something disrupted their lives and they lost everything. We should not judge until we walk in that person's shoes. I applaud Duluth, but this population would be better served with programs to help them get back on their feet.

I agree that we need to care for the vulnerable or help those who are down on their luck due to circumstances out of their control, but why always look to the government and its programs instead of the community and its people? What did people do before government aid became so prevalent? I think they could have counted on their extended family and their neighbors to help them out. I'm not so naive to think picking up an extra bag of groceries is going to solve all of someone's problems, but an attitude of "love your neighbor as yourself" would probably move things in a positive direction.
