$12-an-hour minimum wage in California? Proposal could push level to highest among states

LOS ANGELES — Democrats across the nation are eager to make increasing the minimum wage a defining campaign issue in 2014, but in California a proposal to boost the pay rate to $12 an hour is coming from a different point on the political compass.

I've argued much the same on the minimum wage as a liberal that it's really a stealth business subsidy. Also, a lot of lower wage jobs left in this country are ones that can't be outsourced or else they already would have. Considering CA's living costs, $12/hour probably would still require subsidies.
